About Myself & this Website

Hello!
Welcome to my artist portfolio! My name is Sinthia Cousineau. I am currently a masters student in art therapy at Concordia University. Previously I have graduated from my bachelor's degree in Fine Arts at Concordia University, majoring in art education and minoring in psychology. Born in Montreal, I come from an Italian and French-Belgian background. I've lived in Montreal my entire life, and am therefore fluent in both French and English. I am proud of my mix heritage and my French and English linguistic background.
I studied psychology for one year but decided to try teaching, were I eventually decided to pursue my dream which was to create art . I continued to study psychology on the side and while studying art I discovered the field of art therapy, and it became my dream. I'm currently an art specialist, and certified teacher in Quebec. I followed my dreams of studying art therapy because helping people through art would be a dream come true. I have developed multiple art lessons some of which I included on this website.
Since I am a student, I also work part-time at a history and archeology museum in Montreal as a interpretive guide. I worked as a tour guide at Saint-Joseph's Oratory where I gave tours on the religious and artistic history of the monument. I also have volunteered in multiple hospitals where I used art therapy to help patients recover. I am currently working towards becoming an art therapist & children's book illustrator.
Since I could remember I have always had a soft spot for the artistic world. Loving all kinds of art forms, I mainly enjoy drawing, painting, photography and ceramics. Art for me is life because it brings something to my life that could only be achieved through imagination. It is the air to my lungs, and the joy of my heart. Art is also a form of power, because in a world where I can sometimes feel powerless, art allows me to create a world of my own. Mainly art brings me peace, and tranquility of mind.
The purpose of creating this website was to display my art portfolio as well as to share with the world a part of who I am. I share some of my personal stories in which art has helped me through the darkest moments of my life. Art has mostly been a part-time hobby of mine, but I aim to make it my life. A dream job to me would be to work as a curator at an art museum and also an art educator. This website will show pictures of some of my artwork in the areas of drawings, 3D art, ceramics and photography. I have worked as a teacher and will also share some of my art lessons.
I am a very creative and hardworking individual who enjoys learning about subjects in the field of fine arts or history. I have my own YouTube channel where in some of my videos I educate my viewers on how to create various art projects. I also write for my brother’s website at http://www.climate-change-guide.com/. This website aims to educate the public on topics related to global warming and preserving the environment, which is another deep interest of mine. I also have an artist page on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Sinthia-Cousineau-762447750501933/.
Being a very quite person, often times people cannot see me for who I am because of my silence. Behind the smiley joyful person I often portray is someone who has seen much darkness and pain in her life. I use the pain of my past and present to inspire the creation of a better future. Therefore, through my art they can see the world as I would see it. I can show others part of my own world they would otherwise never see. My emotions, my heart and my mind all play a key role in the creation of my drawings. I find my inspiration in my emotions, past and the natural world.
I am always determined to accomplish my goals and the help others in any way that I can. I am always punctual, reliable, and respectful. Should you require any additional information please to not hesitate to contact me. Feedback on my art much appreciated, because it allows me to see beyond my own perspective. I hope you enjoy my art, and may it inspire you in your own artistic endeavors.
Sincerely,
Sinthia Cousineau
