Create your own Winter Themed Image using the Mosaic Technique!

Learning Objectives

  • Introduce kids to the technique of mosaics .
  • Creating a holiday/ winter themed image.
  • Exploring Motifs and identifying patterns.
  • Learning about shapes and how they fit together.

Materials

  • Mod Podge
  • Black Cardstock Paper (Cut out into little squares)
  • Little containers for mosaic squares
  • Coloured Construction Paper
  • Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Medium or large paint brush
  • Chalk or Pencil
  • Winter themed Images for reference

Room Set-Up

  • Tables of 4
  • Mosaic Squares to be shared placed in centre of table
  • Reference images on each table

Project Steps

Step 1: Draw a simple image of something that represents winter or the holidays.

  • Use pencil or chalk on back cardstock paper.
  • Younger kids can trace the cut-out images

Step 2: Glue the paper pieces to create an image

Step 3 (Optional) : Create a motif/ pattern frame around your image.

Step 4: Apply Mod Podge over all the artwork and wait 10 minutes for it to dry.
